Unfortunately I won't be able to make it out because I'm already taking off work to protest voting on May 20th - more info to come. If you're interested in helping please contact me here.
I understand this post may be confusing and contradicting. Here's the deal. While I am a fan of a lot of Ron Paul's views, I am not a registered Republican therefor I can not vote for him in the Kentucky primary. On top of that, I have a problem with the democratic system to begin with.
This problem stems from the simple fact that it is hard for me to understand how it is a good thing for say, a majority, simply put - 2 out of 3 people to decide what is best for all 3.
One way I put it to a friend was lets say you have a community of 3 farmers. Now 2 grow corn, soy beans and tomatoes. The third only grows corn as these are the only seeds he has. The two with the additional crops decide the community needs more money so they democraticly vote to sell all the corn in the community to a ethanol refinery thus leaving the the third corn only farmer with no crops to feed his family. This is the democratic process in a nutshell. As one insightful talk show host put it... 2 wolves and a sheep deciding what's for dinner.
If this is a system you wish to support then by all means, take your lunch break Tuesday, May 20th and cast you ballot. If on the other hand you are not willing to sit idly by and be told how to live your life I urge you to join in protesting the vote and democratic process on that same day.
I will be tabling directly in front of my poll on Browns Lane. This is, as I have been informed, considered electioneering. That, I have decided, is bullshit.
I have a handful of literature that will be on hand as well as copies of the last few issues of Lattitude, stickers and who knows what else. Again, you can email me if you're interested in taking part - safety in numbers right?
